About Us

Parker and Son have a history spanning back to the 1930s, and we are now in our fourth generation as a specialist building contractor.

This first photograph shows great grandfather Fred Oaten working on a property in Bexhill on sea in 1938.

The second two are of Roy “Curly” Parker laying the foundation stone, accompanied by the mayor Mrs Alexander, for the Chapel at Bexhill Hospital in 1956.

I myself joined Marley roof tiles and with my work force covered the South East from 1976 until 1984, then came back into the company where I have been since. I also took a correspondence course in surveying in the late 80's. James represents the fourth generation in the business, having studied carpentry and joined the company in 2004.

We have always focused on quality in materials, products and workmanship, with regular recommendations from satisfied clients thanks to our knowledge of all aspects of the building industry.

This attention to the very best has earned us many high profile jobs such as set building Turner Prize winning art by Steve McQueen, refurbishing actress Vivien Leigh’s last home and appearing on home improvement TV shows with Sarah Green and Ivan Massow on the show Doing It Up.

Today we still operate a small, long term and tight knit team and run apprenticeship schemes for young employees who train on the job with our experienced staff. We invest regularly in training and specialist courses and are members of the Confederation of Roofing Contractors, Guild of Master Craftsmen and Federation of Master Builders, adhering fully to their codes of conduct on working practices and customer service. The company is also an authorised installer for products such as Sealoflex, Marley and Redland Roof Tiles.
